About the Rattery
Rizzle Rat Rattery is located in Lakewood, Colorado. Our rats are first and foremost family members, and are bred only to further our goals of improving the pet rat as a whole. We are currently focusing on producing healthy, loving rats in fawn, beige, and blue-beige. One of our planned litters for fall 2008 will also include Russian blue and Russian blue agouti rats. A very few exceptional babies will be placed with breeders who are members in good standing of the Northern Illinois Rat Organization and who are working to improve the whole rat. All other babies are adopted out on strict pet-only contracts to approved homes, where they will be cherished and adored as every rat deserves. We are diligent in ensuring that our babies go only to the best homes. Every rat bred by Rizzle Rat Rattery is socialized from birth and receives the best care and nutrition possible. We keep track of every rat for life, so as to gather information that helps us improve upon every generation of rats. We are always available to adopters for any questions they might have, and ask that adopters give us updates on their rats so that we can track health and temperament. Every rat is registered with the North American Rat Registry. We also participate in the show aspect of the rat fancy. I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the North Illinois Rat Organization, and look forward to the upcoming NIRO show, an opportunity to gather expert opinions upon my rats and connect with other fanciers and breeders to share knowledge and camraderie. While showing is a fun and exciting hobby, it can also be risky for the rats involved. We perform a strict quarantine both prior to and after attending shows, and when adding new rats. Please see our links page to learn more about quarantine. We breed in accordance with the NIRO Code of Ethics. Rizzle Rat Rattery supports rescue in many ways, but we do not rescue rats. For the safety of our own rats, we are unable to take in rats of unknown origins. We strongly encourage all rat lovers to support rescue. We do not sell rat food, cages, hammocks, bedding, or any rat products. We can, however, refer you to people who do, and would be happy to recommend products that the Rizzle Rats enjoy.
